The
second edition of the Eurodanceweb award featured 22 artists. The hot
favourites were the Belgian entry, sung by the very popular act Ian Van
Dahl, and the French one, written and produced by David Guetta, a real
star in the house music scene.
However, predictions didn't
come true and, as a big surprise for everybody, the 2002 award was won
by another artist coming from a former Yugoslav County: the Slovene
singer Karmen Stavec with her disco-tune entitled "Še In Še". This song
was performed for the very first time at EMA 2002, the Slovene
selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, and was then recorded in
English with the title "Upside down".
Greece achieved
the second place with the duo Antique and the song "Follow me". Lead
singer of this band was Helena Paparizou, a Greek girl born in Sweden
who then rose to the international stardom with hit singles such as "My
number one" and "Mambo".
Among other big names
competing in this second edition, we mention the Dutch vocal-trance duo
4 Strings, the Swiss Dj Tatana and E-type, one of the most popular
Swedish dance acts of the 90's.
Russia was
represented by t.A.T.u., the biggest International pop sensation of the
year. Members of this duo were Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, two girls
from Moscow who climbed the charts worldwide with their debut song "All
The Things She Said". Their follow-up single "Na Ne Dogonyat", which
was chosen to represent Russia at this year's Eurodanceweb award, was
also released internationally in English with the title "Not Gonna Get
Us".
